Tried to drive home from Napa during a break in the rain. Instead I seemed to hit the meat of the rain. It doesn’t like running all its systems (lights, wipers, radio) at the same time, so I had to strategically power things off and run the whole time just listening to the motor. Which frankly isn’t that bad of a deal.

Plus a pic from yesterday afternoon.

Have you read The Art Of Racing In The Rain? An E9 in the rain can’t help but remind me of it.

Standard m30 Alt. right? they have upgraded ones for the s14/m30 with 145amps. I have one and I’ve never had an issue with power draw.

No my car has an S38 so it’s the M5 alternator. But I have a lot of aftermarket draw (extra lights, big stereo, heated seats, A/F system). The stereo is actually the biggest draw.

Ah, I see. I have different lights that required better wiring and a bigger fuse, and the big stereo as well, but no heated seats. With the stock 70amp I had slight issues but since the upgrade I haven’t.

This morning I noticed the passenger side low beam light is out. So I now wonder whether that was drawing extra power due to increased resistance or the like? (I hate electrical systems!) In any event, I’m considering switching over the LED bulbs for the low beams to draw less amps.
